Seeders Capital is presenting its clean air solutions at Comunitat Valenciana’s Digital District, as technological innovation in tourism and climate change falls under the spotlight. Participants including Accenture, Atos, INDRA, the regional governments of Murcia and Generalitat Valenciana, BP, Vectalia, Agbar, Primafrio, and Grupo Majal, are all presenting their requirements to top startups, Seeders being one of the leaders.
Valencia is a base for over 900 startups (a figure estimated to increase by 100 every year), which makes it the region with the most startups per capita in Spain. Fittingly, a number of startups engaged in the Digital District’s open innovation challenge program will also present their inventions. As in previous years, the conference will take a hybrid format, including face-to-face demonstrations.
Seeders Capital, selected as one of the top 15 startups at Comunitat Valenciana’s Digital District, itself is already highly active in Spain and Egypt, building Clean Air Zones, Clean Energy Zones, and Zero Waste Zones. As well as ESG consulting, the company is all about transforming spaces, optimizing indoor experience and value chains using tailored models. Today it seems that analysts and commentators are mostly concerned with air quality and monitoring, but Seeders is pushing the technology several stages further.
Clean Air Zones
Our focus is on wellbeing, productivity, greater occupancy for hotels, higher leasing rates for building owners, and much more. We transform indoor spaces to climate-controlled zones that are safe, productive, and conducive to good health. After all, the main human needs are air, water, and food. Due to the sheer amount of time we spend indoors (around 90%), the indoor built environment has significant implications for our health.
Filtration keeps the air that we breathe safe, but its overall impact is minimal. Seeders’ innovations and partners add greater value, making every breath count. We can create a natural environment indoors, with a fresh air zone ensuring higher oxygen levels and a more comfortable working space. Studies have shown that office environments with low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) result in a 60% boost to workers’ cognitive scores.
Incredibly, indoor pollution is three to five times higher than outdoors. Conventional thinking on air quality has been challenged over the last decade, as evidence increases for CO2 as a direct pollutant, not merely as a marker for other pollutants. There are remarkable declines in cognitive function scores when CO2 concentrations are raised to levels that are typical of indoor spaces (around 950 ppm).
Many ESG consultants are overly focused on filtration. Seeders Capital works from a completely different mindset, with continuous refinements and additions made to our technology lineup, including the Clean Air Zone and Zero Waste Zone solutions. We cover 17 different parameters, providing advanced green wall systems, indoor carbon capture technology, and digital signage to advise workers and visitors.
Our Business Intelligence (BI) technology presents clients with a world map enabling them to quickly view real-time air quality readings, floor by floor in each of their properties — no matter where the location. With this system, users can pinpoint issues and take necessary action immediately. We provide video playback of air quality changes over time, with the Clean Air Zones working on a timer or to pollution triggers that you can set yourself.
We constantly improve and optimize our technology for hotels, workplaces, and hospitals. The objective is to reduce infections, increase occupancy, and enhance Return on Investment (RoI) for our clients.
Outdoor Air Quality
We help cities and municipalities monitor outdoor air quality in real-time, providing a live feed of the data and helping them take any actions needed to make adjustments. We are also developing in-house technology to automate outdoor solutions and protect zones from surrounding pollution, especially in tourist destinations.
For example, a location like Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia can benefit from air monitoring, and we are developing solutions that will keep these zones clean and safe from pollutants. If there are wildfires in the proximity of an outdoor clean air zone, our solution will be activated and spring into action. In fact, our technology helps clients to stop wildfires.
Monitoring
We create clean air zones outdoors in cooperation with Airlabs, which is best known for installing the world’s densest outdoor air quality sensor network (including 250 advanced sensors) in the Inner London borough of Camden, in the summer and autumn of 2021.
This network provides 100 times greater spatial resolution and refreshes 60 times more regularly than the previous air quality reference system used by the borough council. It captures and reports hyper-local air quality data every minute, intricately mapping the statistics in real time.
Each device measures a wide range of air pollutants including airborne particulate matter and toxic gasses — including levels of ozone (O3) and (nitrogen dioxide (NO2) — as well as detecting humidity and temperature. The technology includes a CO2 concentration sensor. Together, these readings give a complete picture of air quality in an area.
Airlabs worked with Camden Council and the Camden Clean Air Initiative to develop a system that, when fully launched, will feed all relevant collected data into local traffic management policy — as well as providing NHS Trusts and schools with crucial information on nearby air pollution readings, ensuring the protection of vulnerable communities.
